The IP rating rates the degree of protection the bulb/fixture is provided against. The IP value consists of two digits: The first digit indicates the protection against solid parts such as dust or sand and the second digit indicates the protection against liquids. The higher the IP value, the better a lamp is protected. Example of an IP rating: IP67.
